The original poster with her Reddit account name u/Rich_Butterscotch850 pinned the post about her ruined vacation with her husband, sister-in-law who had an old canine, and sister-in-law's spouse on the popular subreddit r/AmItheA**hole. She had emphasized that the Airbnb she had booked and paid for did not permit pets, so the sister promised to find her dog a sitter.

At the beginning of the trip, the OP with her husband took a flight while the sister-in-law's couple decided to drive. When the OP got the key and checked in, she was asked to help to sneak the sister-in-law's dog into the place. As she explained that she couldn't find a sitter, the OP refunded the retreat. Then, she hired a less expensive and luxurious hotel to stay in and refused to pay any cent for the sister-in-law, which made her be blamed as heartless for kicking a poor woman out in the middle of their trip.

Redditors mainly chose to be on the OP's side. They reasoned that the sister-in-law was having an entitlement issue and just hoped to make full use of the OP. It was that she didn't want to pay the dog's sitting fee, or she was over-clinging with her dog, or it was both. She was so ignorant that she deserved to be rejected. In addition, Reddit assumed the sister-in-law was cheeky and calculatingly trying to set up a trap to control the OP. This time, she just got all her boldness to backfire on her.

Meanwhile, a small part of Reddit didn't believe in the story. They supposed that the OP was lying about the refund because she had already checked in. As other comments pointed out the policy could vary among the brands, they just could not buy the fact that a sudden appearance of a dog could easily cancel an Airbnb's plan.
