Is It Right To Prevent Passers-By Petting Your Pets? Reddit Defends Lady Who Gets Insulted For Not Letting Little Girl Pet Her Dog
It is understandable for a passer-by to meet with such a cute pet in his (her) stroll that he (she) can't help petting the furbaby. Nonetheless, there is etiquette that pet owners wish every animal lover to keep in their minds every time they desire to fondle others' furballs. Why should we do that? Let's listen to this young lady to figure it out!

The original poster pinned her story on the hot subreddit r/AmItheA**hole with her account name u/unimportant_me. She had a super cute corgi with bright eyes, an adorable wet nose, and her plump butt dangling left and right as she walked, which was so attractive to people every time they were out for a stroll. She wouldn't mind letting them pet her, but somebody was just so rude and careless that they didn't even look at her before patting her corgi's head. It built up until she felt annoyed when people started to notice her dog excitedly and didn't want to allow them even if they asked.Source: u/unimportant_me
One day, she was moving out of her family's home and struggling to find a new place. Then, suddenly, a strange teenage girl came over and grabbed the corgi without speaking a word. Couldn't bare the frustration, the owner pulled her pup back and yelled out that she wasn't a tourist attraction. The teenager lied back that the dog was heading for her first. On the spur of the moment, the girl escalated the situation by insulting and cursing the owner. They eventually finished the argument without anyone saying sorry to the other one.Source: u/unimportant_me
In the comment section below the OP's post, many Redditors having pets empathized with her. They expressed that they had no aim for attention for their furbabies, but people kept roaming over so much that they were afraid their pets might get terrified. Besides, it frightened them to see someone recklessly provoke their dogs and cats because the animals could attack back at them, which would lead to a bunch of troubles. Therefore, they hoped everyone to be polite and act decently towards others' pets.Source: r/AmItheAsshole

A few Redditors thought that the OP might have overreacted since she was busy settling down so her reaction could have carried a little nervosity that was irrelevant to the dog's incident. However, they didn't blame the OP as the girl's response was even much worse.Source: r/AmItheAsshole
