Meet the Cast of Disney's Live-Action Little Mermaid Movie
With the upcoming live-action remake of "The Little Mermaid," Disney is getting ready to take us under the sea. Its early development began in 2016. Following the mainly positive reviews of live-action "Beauty and the Beast," starring Emma Watson as Belle, and "Aladdin," starring Will Smith as Genie, it seemed only a matter of time before our favorite red-headed princess made a splash as well.
After six years and a pandemic, a release date has finally been set: May 26, 2023. The film's director, Rob Marshall, previously worked on "Mary Poppins Returns." The music for the movie was composed by Alan Menken and co-written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. And at Disney's Investor Day on Dec. 10, we finally got to meet the actors who will play the memorable characters from the 1989 animated movie.
