Man Found Out The Reason Why People Laughed At His Adopted Dog’s French Name

According to statistics about America's most popular dog names, the top five are Max, Cooper, Charlie, Buddy, and Milo. There is also a list of the top 100, but the name “Herbie” was not included. It might be because of its weird meaning that brought a funny story for a man in this following story.
The man had previously rescued some pets before they decided to adopt this senior dog one year ago to live with them in France. The man going by the name u/Sector7Studios has shared an interesting story about the dog’s name with the Reddit community.
The dog was named Herbie when they adopted her, so they also called it by that name without caring about its meaning in French. However, they were increasingly curious about his name when many French speakers kept laughing when knowing it was Herbie, especially the vet. Finally, they decided to figure out its meaning.

The dog is already 12 years old, passing through many owners with a ton of paperwork over those years, but they never took a closer look at that until that day. After just a while, they could quickly find the answer by reviewing the dog’s paperwork on which they clearly wrote Thug Life on the dog name line. It was both surprising and funny to them! They did also find out more about his official French name, which is La vie de voyou'—or Voyou. Through Google Translate, they knew that "voyou" is "thug", so “La vie de voyou'” means "The Thug Life."
Not knowing where the name originated, they imagined many reasons why its prior owner named it this weird name because Herbie is one of the most gentle little guys they have ever had. They speculated he met a stroke of bad luck in the past. Therefore, they want to bring a better life for him. In fact, Herbie is a great brother full of love for their other rescues.

Most people thought the dog had both a cute name and appearance!
