Dad Received Reddit's Massive Consolation For Feeling Bad After "Stealing" His Son's Husky

Families' pets have inevitably taken a big part in each family member's heart. They have the power to mend our relationship and pull us closer. They are like the sunlight shining on the house to sweep away the sadness and sorrow. Our families get stronger connections with our beloved furry friends' existence. However, family members don't always have the same bonding with the pets, which might lead to cracks in the family-hood.

A man on Reddit with his account name u/Necessary_Concept_27 was stuck in a similar situation, thus he hoped to share his story on the popular subreddit r/AmItheA**hole. The original poster had bought his son a husky named Zeus when he turned fourteen. Because the boy had been taking good care of their pet cat, he entrusted the puppy to his son. Nonetheless, the older the pup got, the more ignorant the boy turned towards him. He showed neither interest nor affection when it came to Zeus. Therefore, the rest of the family joined hands in nursing and tending the pup.

It was beyond the OP's imagination when he found his son put their dog up for sale on the internet not long after he declined to give him money to buy gaming equipment. The boy was sixteen and currently had a part-time job, which made his dad even more confused and angry when he caught him red-handed selling Zeus to a stranger. Father and son had an explosive argument that had not led to an end yet.

First of all, Redditors determined the OP had done the right thing to nurture the poor dog and protect him from his heartless son. Moreover, they presumed that his home wasn't safe for Zeus as long as the crazy boy wasn't disciplined yet. They suggested the OP claim ownership over the dog so that his son couldn't take him as his property.

In addition, they supposed there had been something wrong in the boy's mind for two years that the OP might have missed. Provided that his teenager hadn't had any vicious behaviors (except for the attempt to sell the husky), he should put more effort into reasoning his son's cold-hearted act. It could be an addiction disorder or a juvenile mental disorder affecting his emotions and actions. The OP responded to be thankful for Reddit's advice and consolation. Eventually, he decided to take his son to the therapist to detail his mental condition.
