For the first time ever recorded, Britain made meteorological history on Tuesday when temperatures in certain spots surpassed 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit), as a second consecutive day of record-breaking heat seized portions of Europe. Not the UK but continental Europe is currently sweating in a heatwave that is expected to linger until at least the weekend, as stated by the New York Times.

According to Met Office, “Nights are also likely to be exceptionally warm, especially in urban areas. This is likely to lead to widespread impacts on people and infrastructure. Therefore, it is important people plan for the heat and consider changing their routines. This level of heat can have adverse health effects.” Many Brits and European people decided to stay at home to avoid the heat of the sun. And some people in the UK didn't have an air conditioner, so they came up with the idea of using silver foil on south-facing windows to beat the heat.
