7 Movies That Tweaked The Real Stories They Are Based On

In the cinema world, many movies have been based on true stories. A lot of movies have been successful thanks to that adaptation. Normally, almost movie details are reflected by real stories. But making movies involving facts is always a big deal.  For some reason, filmmakers have to change several details in the stories that the movies are based on.
When these movies tweaked the real stories by changing some character lines or some specific details, they certainly received controversial opinions. Whether the changes are positive or negative, we all agree that they are sometimes necessary to portray the characters in the most dramatic ways.
Below are some movies that changed part of the real facts to make the movie lighter.

#1 Queen had not been out of the game for years as they said in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Bohemian Rhapsody managed several creative licenses to tell the story of Freddie Mercury and the legendary band, Queen. In this movie, Queen comes back to the stage after several years. In fact, the band had finished their tour just two months before the big recital.

#2 Unlike The Other Boleyn Girl, Mary was older than Anne in the real life.

The Other Boleyn Girl is about the real story of the sisters Anne, and Mary and their dispute over the love of the King of England, Henry VIII. There are controversial opinions about the age difference between the two sisters, although many historians claim that in reality, Marica was the older sister.
Anyway, the movie decided to portray Anna as an older sister and Maria as a younger one.

#3 John Nash didn’t give an emotional speech on receiving the Nobel Prize as in A Brilliant Mind.

The Oscar-winning movie, A Wonderful Mind, took numerous liberties when it came to telling the story of mathematician John Nash. One of the most memorable moments is when he receives his Nobel Prize in economics and gives an emotional speech in which he talks about love. He never had a speech or give a reading for the acceptance of the award in real life.

#4 The events in The Sound of Music were held sometime before.

It goes without saying that The Sound of Music is one of the greatest classics in the history of cinema, collaborated with the outstanding performance of the legendary Julie Andrews. While the movie is set in roughly 1938 Maria von Trapp was presented to the von Trapp family a few years earlier, probably in 1926.

#5 Some characters were created specifically for Dallas Buyers Club

The Dallas Buyers Club plays a raw and emotional story, which brought Matthew McConaughey an Oscar for best actor for his great performance. Some real people were removed (such as the protagonist’s sister and daughter) and some characters were added, such as the doctor played by Jennifer Garner and the character of Jared Leto.

#6 The character of Captain Phillips was not as heroic as he was played in the movie.

Captain Phillips narrates the odyssey sorrowed by a cargo ship, after being boarded by a group of pirates. In the movie, the captain, portrayed by Tom Hanks, is portrayed as the hero who handled the entire tense situation.
Surprisingly, many crew members who were there at the time disagree with the vision in the movie, confirming that it was the very irresponsibility of the captain that put them in that situation in the first place.

#7 Michael Oher already learned how to portray before the adoption, which is different from what’s seen in the movie The Blind Side.

The Blind Side tells a heartwarming story of Michael Oher who inspired the character of Sandra Bullock. The famous footballer overcomes obstacles and succeeds in American football.
But Michael himself didn’t like the way he is portrayed in the movie, since there, it is his tutor who teaches him some fundamentals of the game. The footballer alleged, “I have been studying, really studying, the game since I was a child.”
