14 TV Shows That Changed Titles Before Becoming Iconic

Every movie or TV Show needs a title. And the title is the first impression to audiences, giving the audience a reason to spend time on that movie or TV show. A good title always makes us want to watch it. On the other hand, a bad title might leave us scratching our heads.
Giving a TV show a name isn’t easy. In fact, some TV shows had different names before they became famous. Filmmakers consider the film's title as an important factor contributing to the success of the film and they are ready to modify it if it's necessary.  And some TV shows renamed their titles for that reason. We are all familiar with the name of The Big Bang Theory, Stranger Things, Mr. Bean, or Friends. Surprisingly, these aren't the original titles of the most iconic TV shows.

#1 Mr. Bean

Surprisingly, Mr. Cauliflower was the original name of Mr.Bean. And producers thought that it should be a vegetable-related name. However, they changed the title after the show was released.

#2 Stranger Things

Originally,  Stranger Things was named Montauk because it was planned to film in New York. But for some reason, it was moved to a small town. Then, the title of the show was changed.

#3 The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory is firstly named Lenny, Penny, and Kenny. The producers probably wanted to highlight science rather than just the names of the characters. Then, they changed the title.

#4 Lost

Nowhere had an original name, Lost. Later, it was changed when the creators were brought into production and developed further.

#5 Friends

 If there had been no change, Six of One would be the title of Friends. Six of One was actually the first name of the show. Later it was changed by the director.

#6 Seinfeld

Seinfeld was firstly named The Seinfeld Chronicles, but it was later changed so that it wouldn’t confuse viewers with the existing series.

#7 Grey’s Anatomy

Grey’s Anatomy was renamed three times. Before that, it was named Surgeons, Complications, and Doctors. However, they turned out to be good decisions when the film become iconic.

#8 Full House

House of Comics was the first name of Full House but was later changed because of the concept of having a family rather than 2 comedians in the show.

#9 This Is Us

This Is Us was originally named 36 because it was the age of all characters at the beginning of the series. However, it was changed because the creator didn’t feel good about the first name.

Lizzie McGuire was originally named What’s Lizzie Thinking? It can also be seen in the bloopers, however, it was later altered.

#11 Wizards of Waverly Place

Wizards of Waverly Place was supposed to be The Amazing O’Malleys. The first episode was about a family having a magic shop, but later it was changed.

 That ’70s Show was firstly called Teenage Wasteland. However, it was altered because of copyright problems.

#13 Saved by the Bell

Saved by the Bell was Good Morning, Miss Bliss in the early days. The title was eventually changed after using it in several episodes.

#14 One Tree Hill

One Tree Hill was first known as Ravens but it was modified later. They made the change because it would be a TV series and not a movie.
