11 Actors Who Requested To Change Their Scripts And Brilliantly Shaped Their Characters
But the characters sometimes go far beyond the script. Then, the actors speak out their opinions about the characters. They don’t even follow the director's instructions and decide to change the scripts.
Not many actors are willing to get an extreme weight gain or have a special diet to lose extra kilos within a month. But some actors did request a change to bring us more convincing characters. Indeed, these actors have shown their brilliant acting skills and dedication. There is little doubt that acting isn’t an easy job.

#1 Denzel Washington in The Pelican Brief

Surprisingly, Denzel Washington didn't want to be Julia Roberts’ lover in The Pelican Brief. Although the audience loves to see a romance between the two on-screen, Denzel said he did not feel well when kissing a woman who's not the same ethnicity.
#2 Chris Hemsworth in Thor: Ragnarok

Chris Hemsworth requested to change Thor’s attitude in Thor: Ragnarok. Chris said, “I was pretty bored with myself as the character.... so we said, ’Let’s do something different’”. And he was allowed to portray a more fun and spontaneous character.
#3 Jason Isaacs in Harry Potter series.

Jason Isaacs asked for a different look for Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series. His character was built in a pinstripe suit and short hair with black and white locks, but he refused. Isaacs suggested a long white wig instead, and it worked.
#4 Dacre Montogmery in Stranger Things.

Dacre Montgomery appeared in seasons 2 and 3 of Stranger Things. He came up with ideas to make Billy more human in Stranger Things. And his suggestion was accepted.
#5 Alan Rickman in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Alan Rickman brilliantly rewrote some of his script lines for Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves because he felt it was so bad. Then, the British actor changed some script lines to make his character more dynamic and unpredictable.
#6 Crispin Glover in Charlie’s Angels

Crispin Glover loved his villain to be a mute in Charlie’s Angels because he hated his script lines. So Glover suggested that she should be a mute character. Director McG agreed ,and his character didn't say any single line.
#7 Halle Berry in X-Men III: The Final Battle.

Halle Berry portrayed Storm in the X-men saga between 2000 and 2006. She asked to play a bigger role in X-Men III: The Final Battle because she felt her character wasn't important in the plot. Finally, she managed to get more on-screen time.
#8 Tom Cruise in The Mummy.

Tom Cruise didn’t want to appear less time in The Mummy. Producers of the movie have to hire two screenwriters to give him more screen time.
#9 Samuel L. Jackson in Snakes on a Plane.

Samuel L. Jackson asked to keep the original name of Snakes on a Plane. Surprisingly, the movie's first name was Pacific Flight 121. But Jackson felt the old title would bring an idea of the plot.
#10 Mike Myers in Shrek

There is a fun fact that Myers wasn't satisfied with the Canadian accent that he did. He asked to change Shrek’s accent even when the film was finished. The re-recording cost nearly 4 million dollars which made the film more successful.
