10 Genius Ways Celebrities Covered Up Their Old Tattoos

The meaning of the tattoos we have on our bodies might shift over time. Some of us may come to regret getting particular tattoos. For example, if you get a tattoo symbolizing you and your husband's love for each other, and later in life, you two end up getting divorced, you would come to regret the tattoo, wouldn't you? While many of them choose to permanently remove the undesired images and inscriptions from their skin, others use their ingenuity and imagination to alter such tattoos and give them new positive meanings.

#1 Heidi Klum removed an abstract design from her arm after her divorce.

Heidi Klum had an abstract wave-shaped pattern tattooed on her elbow in 2008 to honor her then-husband Seal's vow renewal. After filing for divorce in 2012, the model decided to remove the design honoring her husband, but she kept the four small stars honoring her children.

#2 Kaley Cuoco turned her marriage-inspired tattoo into a moth.

The date of Kaley's wedding to Ryan Sweeting was engraved in Roman numerals beneath her neck in the original tattoo. Following their divorce, the actress opted to conceal the wedding date with an image of a moth. Kaley chose a giant moth with large wings because the tattoo needs to be large enough to cover the existing pattern.

#3 Malin Åkerman changed the meaning of her tattoo by adding just one letter.

Malin's wrist tattoo used to be the letter "Z," which stood for her ex-surname. husband's After their divorce, the actress decided to cover up the unpleasant tattoo with the letter "S." The initial letter of her son's name, "Sebastian," is "S."
