It’s back. "The Proud Family" is officially back, prouder than ever.
It has been 17 years since The Proud Family’s movie, which doubles as its finale. So understandably, when the news about the reboot of the show first broke out, we are stoked! And equally terrified!
Reboots have not had the best reputation. While some reboots like Full House and Will and Grace, and Roseanne (God bless that show) were insanely successful, other has tanked spectacularly. On the top of my head, I can count the reboots of Sex and the City, Charmed and Gossip Girl.
These shows prove that, even when you have a good premise, sometimes it is better to leave well enough alone.
So when “The Proud Family” reboot airs its first episode, we are terrified. The show is a staple of black cartoons in American pop culture, along with The Boondocks. But, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder still feels like a continuation of the Prouds, from 17 years ago.
