Sandra Bullock was cast as Sally Owens, a witch who became widowed after the Owens curse killed her husband and Camilla Belle was a young version of Sally Owens. Nicole Kidman played Gillian Owens, Sally's sister, who grew restless with her family's estrangement in their small town and became the victim of an abusive relationship.
