An Artist Used AI To Show What Disney Characters Would Look Like In Real Life

Most of our childhoods are attached to Disney movies. The cartoons taught us valuable lessons and took us on adventures we could only dream of. We also had our own favorite characters that we wanted to be like. However, have you ever imagined what cartoon characters look like as real people?
Recently, Hidreley Leli Diao, a Brazilian digital artist has used AI and his artistic skills to create photorealistic versions of Disney characters. Shared them on Instagram, his creative photos have received the attention worldwide with a thousand likes. Looking at those photos, we can also associate them with several famous actors.
Follow his Instagram to see photo-realistic portraits of Disney characters and compared them to some celebrities.

#1 Alyssa Milano is the model for The Little Mermaid’s Ariel

The Little Mermaid is one of the most famous movies by Disney. During film production, animators used actress Alyssa Milano as the main inspiration for Ariel’s look. At that time, Alyssa and Ariel were at the same age of 17, but Alyssa didn’t know that she was a model for Princess Ariel.

#2 Ed Asner is the model for Up’s Carl

"Up" movie is a 2009 American computer-animated film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is said that Carl Fredricksen in Up (2009) was inspired by Ed Asner who provided the voice of this character.

Pocahontas is the Disney animated tale of the romance between a young Native American woman named Pocahontas and Captain John Smith. Pocahontas is modeled after Irene Bedard who provided the speaking voice for the titular character.

#4 Eleanor Audley is the model for Cinderella’s Lady Tremaine

Cinderella is a 1950 American animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney. In the cartoon, the villain Lady Tremaine was inspired by radio actress Eleanor Audley. The animators drew this character with many of Audley’s facial features.

Marge Champion worked with the Disney production studio for a long time. When “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” movie was being made. Animators based on her movements on the stage to make the character more realistic.

#6 Maila Nurmi is the model for Sleeping Beauty’s Maleficent

There were many rumors flying around that who the inspiration was behind the character Maleficent. Some said it was based on Eleanor Audley, some believed it was modeled after Maila Nurmi. After the Maila Nurmi’s death, it was confirmed that Maila Nurmi worked with Disney to create Maleficent.

Disney animators sought inspiration from a confident leading man for Princess Jasmine's love interest and they thought Tom Cruise was the right choice. “There's a confidence with all of his attitudes and his poses," lead animator Glen Keane said of Tom Cruise.
