7 Most Controversial Scandals When Stars Were Caught Stealing Things

Videos that are embarrassing or destructive to a celebrity are sometimes the starting point for a dispute today. Several high-profile people have been caught on camera engaged in dubious behavior as a direct result of the spread of video recording devices, both stationary and portable. These devices may record video in both fixed locations and on the go. They must wish for the days when they weren't always trailed by photographers or discreetly videotaped by admirers.
Celebrities must wait long for simpler times. Regrettably, we now live in a society entirely dominated by digital technology. Celebrities are virtually constantly being videotaped, even when they believe they are in private settings like their homes. Even though Ariana Grande received a lot of criticism for a video that showed her eating donuts at a donut shop, she is not the first celebrity to do something bizarre while being filmed. There are a lot of celebrities who have done strange things while being filmed.

Winona Ryder, the actress of such films as Reality Bites and Edward Scissorhands, was caught on surveillance video stealing more than $5,000 worth of goods from the Beverly Hills Saks Fifth Avenue in 2001. Ryder was charged and convicted despite her assertion that she was conducting research for a part.

2. Jay-Z

Solange Knowles allegedly assaulted her brother-in-law Jay-Z in an elevator at the Standard Hotel in New York City in 2014. Solange has assured fans that everything is well in the family, even though they never explained what led to the disagreement. Meanwhile, her older sister Beyoncé made a sly allusion to the whole thing in a new version of her song "Flawless."

The pop star and her boyfriend, Ricky Alvarez, were in Lake Elsinore, California, when they decided to play a game of truth or dare, in which they challenged one another to lick doughnuts (after a full make-out session). The celebrity was captured on camera, and the repercussions haven't been kind for her.

When driving with her husband, Jim Toth, actress Reese Witherspoon was pulled over by an Atlanta police officer on suspicion of DUI, and the incident was recorded on camera. She finally tried to play the celebrity card, shouting, "I'm an American citizen!" but to no avail. They were detained, and Witherspoon expressed "great embarrassment" in her subsequent public apology.

5. Kate Moss

Though supermodel Kate Moss had been on several magazine covers before to 2005, 2005's front page of a London newspaper featuring her sniffing cocaine was unprecedented. Moss's husband, Pete Doherty, worked at the recording studio where the photos were taken. Many major fashion brands, including Chanel, Burberry, and H&M, dropped her after seeing the blurry clip.

6. Michael Richards

Once a video of Michael Richards' racist rant at a Los Angeles comedy club surfaced online, his reputation took a nosedive. When heckled by an audience member in 2006, Kramer from Seinfeld resorted to racial slurs and statements like "Fifty years ago we'd have you upside down with a fork up your ass" to silence the audience member. Reruns of Seinfeld aren't the same now.

7 Miley Cyrus

Smoking Salvia, a natural and legal plant with hallucinogenic qualities, was part of Miley Cyrus's 18th birthday festivities. Shock and anger spread after a friend's video was released online. Of course, it was back in 2010 when Cyrus was still more closely linked to her pristine Disney image and had yet to begin lighting joints onstage. Back when life was less complicated.
