Man Gets Criticized For Demanding The Family That Adopted His Dog Doesn't Change His Name

When you adopt a dog or a pet, you are eager to name him or her a beautiful name. However, what would you do if the former owner told you that you had no permission to rename the dog? It sounds crazy as the dog now belongs to you, and you don't need "permission" from the old owner about anything to do with your dog.
Therefore, when a Reddit user u/10thtime shared that he demanded the family that adopted his dog didn't rename him, he caused outrage in the community. He asked, "AITA for telling the family that adopted my dog that they had no permission to rename him?"

According to the post, OP had to face a tough problem. He had to give up his german shepherd dog Willy because his fiancée and his son are allergic to dogs. For this reason, he had to put Willy up for adoption before they moved in with him. Thankfully, he found a great new family to care for his dog.
When the man called the family, he heard a young girl call the dog, 'Rudy." He was so mad and said they had no permission to change the dog's name. After reading his post, Redditors almost unanimously agreed that the man is being a huge a$$hole. They said that the man gave up any rights and control over their dog when he gave him up. The new owners don't need "permission" from him about anything to do with the dog that is their dog now.
