Touching Reunion Of Twins Separated At Birth After Roughly 7 Decades Apart

"I don't care about winning the lottery. I just want to have my brother by my side."
Assume that there is somebody out there being your doppelganger, somebody who looks totally identical to you, but is also a complete stranger. Yep, that’s how twin brothers, George Skrzynecky and Lucian Poznanski, had lived their whole lives as strangers, until they reunited.

The twins, originated from Germany, were gave birth to in 1946 by their mother, Elizabeth, a Catholic Polish who was liberated from a labor camp when World War II ended. Elizabeth immediately became sick after begetting the two, leading to her unable to look after them. The children would then be adopted into different families in Poland.

Lucian resided in Poland and didn’t discover his adoption until he got a call-up to the armed forces, which must have been a double blow. Meanwhile, George accidentally saw his adoption documents at 17, knowing that he had a twin brother. He tried to ask for help from the Red Cross in his 60s, to look for his brother, but those attempts somewhat proved futile.

“All my life, I just want to know my family,” George said. “For 70 years, I was living without knowing things and was thinking I’m never going to find him.” Meanwhile, Lucian failed to discover he had a twin until his 60s. Astonishingly, he then contacted the Red Cross, who was capable of tracking George down.

“I don’t care about winning the lottery,” Lucian claimed. “I just want to have my brother by my side.” At that time, George didn’t know that his twin brother was still alive and even wanted to meet him as well. Ultimately, the twins reunited after having spent 68 years apart from birth, at Warsaw airport, Poland.

“I never knew when this day was going to happen — was thinking one day I’ll find my brother,” George claimed. “I couldn’t wait to hug him and give him a big kiss.” The twins cried before coming near each other. Lucian was holding the largest bouquet of flowers he could bring, while George believed that he expected this to be the beginning of a remarkably close relationship.

They burst into tears, embraced each other, kissed each other’s cheek, rubbed each other’s heads upon their meet, while their wives also held each other. Lucian shared, “My heart is overflowing with joy to welcome you back to Polish soil.” The BBC’s video of their touching reunion ended up going viral, gathering more than 9 million views.

Apart from helping the two find their half, the Red Cross also revealed certain data related to the parents of the two. Their father was an American soldier who returned to the U.S. before their birth, while their mother, Elizabeth, tried to find them but was prevented from finding their whereabouts.
The brothers then visited Warsaw’s Uprising Museum after their airport reunion, intending to spend much more time around each other. See their loving reunion in the video below!
