"Obi-Wan Kenobi" Nearly Featured Darth Maul, Until His Scenes Were Cut

It seems that Disney+'s series Obi-Wan Kenobi will not feature the return of the legendary Jedi Master's his long-time enemy, Darth Maul, played by Ray Park.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Ray Park had been involved in pre-production on the series and began training on stunts before being replaced in the script by Darth Vader and the Grand Inquisitor. Some claim that a few scenes were shot, but maybe they were just test footage only.

Maul made his debut in 1999 in The Phantom Menace, which starred Ray Park with the voice of Peter Serafinowicz. The character is a Zabrak coming from the planet Dathomir, who was kidnapped by Darth Sidious as a child and transformed into his apprentice.
After apparently being killed by Obi-Wan at the end of the film, he reappeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and in Star Wars: Rebels, and then finally became a crime lord as we saw in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

It should be noted that in February 2021, Park announced the return of Maul with a photo of the actor himself wearing prosthetics and make-up.
As for the series dedicated to the character of Jedi Master Kenobi played by Ewan McGregor, it is no secret that it has undergone numerous changes of direction and stops, including the change of the lead screenwriter. In fact, Hossein Amini was replaced by Joby Harold last year.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is expected on Disney+ on May 25, 2022 and will consist of six one-hour episodes.
