At the beginning of the month, Matt Reeves' The Batman was finally released in cinemas with Robert Pattinson in the role of Bruce Wayne, and this is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated movies of the year for many audiences, especially long-time DC fans.

And, well, it didn't take long for those hardcore fans to notice that Paul Dano's Riddler seen in The Batman wears the same glasses that Edward Nygma wore in Batman Forever back in 1995. Yes, although the styles of the films are radically different, there is one commonality between Batman Forever and The Batman: those glasses are the same!

This is a small detail retrieved from the 1995 film in which Edward Nygma was played by the legendary Jim Carrey with a style partially closer to the Batman TV series starring Adam West and Burt Ward in 1966. Jim Carrey's Riddler was definitely different from the noir and thriller tone of the 2007 mystery film Zodiac instilled by Matt Reeves in the villain, which is played by Paul Dano this time.
According to fans of both movies, instead of a cool coincidence, this is more like the way The Batman crew and maybe Paul Dano himself pay homage to Jim Carrey as well as his character in Batman Forever.
The Batman is currently in theaters. It features Robert Pattinson as the young Bruce Wayne aka Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot aka Penguin and Paul Dano as the film’s main villain, the Riddler.
