Stray Dog Wanders Into Open Door During Storm, Becomes Part of Family

It was 4 a.m. on Saturday. Jack Jokinen was sleeping when his wife suddenly woke him up. She told him there was a puppy in their house. He quickly went downstairs to check out and saw a Lab mix puppy lying in the living room.

Jack was confused and could not explain to himself how the dog broke into his house. All the windows and the front door were carefully locked before the storm came. He then checked the footage from the security cameras to find out what happened. As it turned out, he forgot to lock the door after he went for a walk with his own pup, George.

The dog desperately looked for a warm shelter during the storm, so he went into Jack's house. “Then at 3:16, on the camera, we can see the dog, we’ve named her Suzy, coming down the street and she stops outside our house,” he said. “She was out in the rain and cold, and she kind of hesitated and then went into the house.”

They gave her food and a blanket to keep her warm. The next morning they took her to a vet, where they found out she was not a puppy, but a 9-year-stray dog. Learning that, Jack and his wife decided to adopt the dog and named her Suzy.

We are happy to know that Suzy is safe and warm. For the first time in a long time, she has a real home that she deserves. We believe that she will be loved and cared for in her loving home.
