And while everyone was listening intently to Copperfield talking a blue streak, nobody would even notice that the magician had the platform slowly rotated for a few degrees. The magician even distracted his audience with loud music, apart from his general showmanship.

When the curtain was lifted, the Statue of Liberty had vanished. However, in fact, at that time, the view of the spectators was obscured by one of the two towers.

Furthermore, all lighting fixtures for the statue were turned off, except for the headlights that shone up from the base of the statue. This created the illusion that there was an alternative space for the statue's position.
