James Gunn Says Another "The Suicide Squad" Spin-Off Is In Development

James Gunn, director of The Suicide Squad and creator of the film's first spin-off series, Peacemaker, has confirmed that a second spin-off for HBO Max is in development.
Accordingly, in an interview with Deadline, Gunn said: "We're working on something else now, another TV show that's connected to that universe."
When Gunn was asked about further details, he only added: "I can't quite say."
The original news reports that this new show would be tied to a character from The Suicide Squad movie directed by Gunn. The project is still in its infancy and not even an episode has been written yet. Needless to say, there has been no green light yet either, but apparently it's not a problem given that HBO Max is very excited about the results Gunn has achieved so far.

During the same interview, the famous director also spoke a little bit about this new spinoff and the difference with Peacemaker.
"I can't say anything. It is connected to this universe, and I don't think it will be the same genre as Peacemaker; it won't be as much a comedy as Peacemaker, but it will be in the same universe," he shared.
In the film dedicated to the Suicide Squad, we have seen a lot of well-known and lesser-known supervillains and anti-heroes, so it can be anyone. Gunn also has not confirmed if it will be a prequel or sequel to the film, therefore, it could be a story about Idris Elba's Bloodsport that happened before the events in The Suicide Squad or a sequel with the few surviving characters like Ratcatcher 2 played by Daniela Melchior.
Since the director has confirmed that it will be a different genre from the series about the character played by John Cena, there's a good chance that it would center on either one of them rather than Polka-Dot Man or King Shark.

Peacemaker is currently airing on HBO Max in various parts of the world. The series is a spin-off of The Suicide Squad, a soft reboot dedicated to the group of supervillains from DC Comics. Peacemaker in the series as well as in the film is played by John Cena, and the show is receiving a lot of acclaim from both fans and critics.
Director James Gunn also confirmed in a recent interview the possibility of a second season, given the enthusiasm and worldwide interest behind it.
In addition to John Cena in the role of the same-name antihero, the cast of Peacemaker also features Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase aka Vigilante, Christopher Heyerdahl as Captain Locke, Chukwudi Iwuji as Clemson Murn, Lochlyn Munro as Larry Fitzgibbon and Annie Chang as Sophie Song. Elizabeth Faith Ludlow and Rizwan Manji have also been confirmed as Keeya and Jamil.
