#1. The Furious Five Will Return In The Final Battle

One of the most talked-about matters of Kung Fu Panda 4 is the lack of the beloved Furious Five in the trailer. The martial arts team, consisting of Tigress, Crane, Monkey, Snake, and Mantis, has been a crucial part throughout the franchise, and serves as Po’s allies and best friends. However, the five aren’t included in the trailer, leaving fans wondering about their well-being.
Luckily, in a recent interview, the film’s director Mike Mitchell assured fans that the Furious Five will return in the movie. However, since the team was missing from the trailer, many believe that they will join Po in the final battle against the Chameleon in the direst moment possible. Fans even suggest that they will have an Avengers-like assembly at the end of the movie.

#2. Tai Lung Will Become The Dragon Warrior

One of the best things about Kung Fu Panda 4’s trailer, is that it announces Tai Lung’s return. The snow leopard is the antagonist of the first movie, who used to be Shifu’s apprentice but then turned evil. After a devastating battle with Po, Tai Lung was sent to the Spirit Realm after Po used the Wuxi Finger technique on him. Since then, many believed Tai Lung was truly dead.
However, in the trailer, the antagonist is summoned back to the real world thanks to the Chameleon. She then uses her mimic ability to steal Tai Lung’s Chi and appearance, and easily dispatches him afterward.

As the Chameleon might prove too strong of an enemy, both Po and Tai Lung may have to reluctantly team up with each other in order to defeat her once and for all. This is the kind of fight we’ve been all waiting for, when the reformed villain sides with the hero to fight a bigger opponent.
And maybe, with this possible redemption arc, Tai Lung can finally prove himself worthy of the Dragon Warrior that he has been yearning for. The villain was once a favorite contender for the title, but was denied due to his ferocious nature and turned evil ever since.
Therefore, by having Tai Lung redeem himself in Kung Fu Panda 4, the film might make him realize what it truly takes to be the Dragon Warrior, and who knows, Po might pass him the mantle at the end.

#3. The Chameleon Isn’t The Movie’s Final Boss

This theory might seem a bit far-fetched than the others, but it will truly be a twist if it comes true. What if, the Chameleon is only a decoy, and Po’s new companion, Zhen, is the true mastermind behind it all?
Come to think of it, this character’s background is still shrouded in mystery, as we only know that she’s a thief in the Chameleon’s city. Maybe she only befriends Po to get to the Chameleon to steal her powers, and when she does, she will turn against the protagonist and become the final boss. This has the potential to be the biggest plot-twist in the entire franchise.

#4. Master Shifu’s Life Might Be In Danger

The beloved Master Shifu has been with us ever since the first movie as Po’s mentor and biggest friend. In the trailer of Kung Fu Panda 4, even the Furious Five has left, but Shifu still stays to guide Po on his upcoming path, and help him pass the mantle of the Dragon Warrior.
With Shifu appearing in Kung Fu Panda 4, there have been some brutal theories about how the mentor will sacrifice himself to save Po and Zhen. For the record, Shifu has been Po’s mentor for so long, and he has long fulfilled his purpose. His passing may be the final push needed for Po to finally ascend to his maturity.

#5. Shen Will Also Make A Comeback

The Kung Fu Panda franchise has some of the best villains in Dreamworks-Verse, and Shen is widely considered the best out of the three. While possessing no martial arts experience whatsoever, Shen makes up for it with sheer brutality and a cunning mind to boot, causing Po and his allies to suffer from time to time.
At the end of Kung Fu Panda 2, Shen is presumably dead after getting crushed by one of his own cannons. However, as the Chameleon is the antagonist of the fourth movie, she can turn into Shen and copy his abilities just like she did with Tai Lung in the trailer. Or maybe, the villain himself somehow miraculously survived the crush, and will return in person to cause Po even more trouble.
