Jeremy Renner On His MCU Experience: "They're Like Family To Me"

Last month, all episodes of Hawkeye - the acclaimed Marvel Studios series in which Jeremy Renner returned as the famous hero - were released on Disney+. The show centers on Hawkeye aka Clint Barton as he becomes the mentor of and is forced to collaborate with Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), a 22-year-old archer with a dream of becoming a superheroine one day.
In a recent interview with the Armchair Expert podcast, Jeremy Renner has opened up about his experience in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Hawkeye, a character he started playing 11 years ago in the first Thor movie.

When asked about the thing he enjoyed the most during this fantastic journey, the actor immediately mentioned his special relationship with the other original Avengers: Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth.
"The greatest thing that ever came from the last 11 years of the Marvel world for me, or even all of us, is the original A6 that have been along the whole journey," Renner shared. "There's been marriages and divorces, and kids being born, and a lot of shifts and changes in our personal lives as well as our acting lives that we all shared together in a very specific way."

The Marvel star confessed that he saw them as his own family members, and he even stressed that they got matching tattoos to celebrate their unique bond.
"All of them, they're like family to me. You can't replace that or quantify it, and we all got tattoos together just to symbolize our bond and love," he said.

Renner also stated that becoming a part of the MCU was very different from being a Hollywood star in general.
"It's like, five other people speak the same language, you're going to talk with them a little bit better, right? Because everybody is a celebrity in their own right, but a Marvel celebrity, especially the original six, has just been a different kind of journey," he added.
Hawkeye was written by Jonathan Igla and directed by Bert & Bertie and Rhys Thomas. The series stars Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton aka Hawkeye, Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, Vera Farmiga as Eleanor Bishop, Fra Fee as Kazi, Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne, Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez aka Echo, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Linda Cardellini as Laura Barton, Zahn McClarnon as William Lopez, and Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin.
