Pre-production Of "Blade" Reboot Begins With Mahershala Ali

During 2019 Comic-Con International: San Diego and Disney Investor Day 2020, Marvel Studios introduced all of its upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and TV series that were already planned meticulously. And at both of these events, a Blade reboot starring Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali was officially announced, which will begin filming in July 2022.

Character Blade aka Eric Brooks was born in 1973 and already starred in a same-name movie in 1998 and a same-name series in 2006. As the son of a vampire and a human, he's strong, tough, fast, and he has all the strengths of vampires, starting with immortality.
The 1998 Blade movie is truly an iconic one when it comes to adaptations and vampire films. Starring Wesley Snipes as the vampire hunter, this version of the character became a reference for future hunter and vampire stories and now, he is even featured in The Death of Doctor Strange: Blade (2021).

While preparing for the reboot, screenwriter Stacy Osei-Kuffour has revealed the start of the pre-production by publishing a couple of screenshots of herself alongside protagonist Mahershala Ali, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, vice-president Louis D'Esposito, director Bassam Tariq and other producers. They all seem to have a lot of fun during the online meeting.

Directed by Bassam Tariq, Blade is expected to hit theaters on November 3, 2023. In the cast, we will see Mahershala Ali as Eric Brooks aka Blade, and Delroy Lindo in a mysterious role. As mentioned above, the screenplay will be written by Stacy Osei-Kuffour.
Blade is part of Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
