Makeup Artist Creatively Uses Hijab to Transform Herself into Disney Princesses
Saraswati (known as Queen of Luna) has gained a sizable following with her special makeup transformations. She wants to show that anybody, including someone who wears a headscarf, can be a Disney princess.
The creative young artist makes her hijab a focal point of each ensemble by expertly shaping and embellishing it to imitate a variety of hairstyles. So far, the self-taught makeup artist has transformed herself into different characters (and celebrities), from Betty Boop to Alice in Wonderland.
Saraswati said that her looks may take up to two and a half hours to complete, depending on the complexity of the make-up, face painting, and hijab style. To mimic Alice’s signature hairstyle, for example, she used a yellow hijab and a black headband. She also wore blue contacts and drew on black lines to the eyes look more lively.
She hopes to dispel prejudices about hijabs through her cosplay. For people who want to follow in her footsteps, Saraswati advises to ‘never live to please others and to never give up.
