A Quick Guide To The Meaning of 7 Lightsaber Colors, It's More Than Just Decoration

Ever feel fascinated by the lightsaber duals between a Jedi and a Sith? Don't you just love how those swords glow like neon light but can still pack powerful strikes - powerful enough to cut through almost any material in the Star War Universe? This weapon is almost exclusively used by people who have a strong connection with the Force. There are exceptions in which some non-Force users can wield a lightsaber in combat but in general, most regular people and foot soldiers tend to avoid using lightsabers. It's not because the sword is heavy or something. In order to control a lightsaber to perfection, one needs to be master a lot of skills and develop the connection with the Force.
Getting back to the lightsaber themselves, have you ever wondered if there is more meaning to the colors of these sabers rather than just decorations? Well, the Force is with you on this one. Through official confirmations and fan theories, there are deeper meanings regarding faction, position, and skill level of the sword fighter. A blue lightsaber - the most common color in the galaxy, represents Jedi Guardian. As the protector of the Jedi Order, Jedi Guardians were skilled fighters who mainly focus on combat skills.

Through the process of subjugating the core crystal of a lightsaber, the red color only appears when the Sith takes control of the crystal. Thus red lightsaber doesn't actually mean evil. Instead, it represents pain and suffering. It fits very well with characteristics of the Dark Side of the Force - which is embraced by the Sith.

#3 Purple (Amethyst) Lightsaber

Originally, the purple lightsaber only exists after Samuel L. Jackson - who portrayed Mace Windu, demanded to have his sword in purple because it's his favorite color. However, with the development of the Star Wars Universe, the color finally gained a meaning for its own. Purple is the combination of red and blue, this means the wielder must have the balance between both Light and Dark Side of the Force. They possess traits of moral ambiguity, uncertainty, and reconstruction.

#4 Green Lightsaber

Unlike blue lightsaber which is used by fighters, green represents wisdom and skill, they were wielded by powerful Jedi Consulars. These knights have a stronger connection and understanding with the Force.  They possess more powerful mental skills than their fighting skills.

White lightsaber stands for neutrality and autonomy. While the wielder embraces the Light Side of the Force, they often cut ties with the Jedi Order. To create a white lightsaber one must purify a red crystal of the Sith.

#6 Yellow Lightsaber

Yellow indicated a Jedi Sentinel, a Jedi who honed his or her skills in a balance of combat and scholarly pursuits. However, specific roles like Jedi Temple Guards all used yellow crystals to power their lightsabers. The Jedi Sentinel is a balance between the green of the Jedi Consular and the blue of the Jedi Guardian
