Photographer Takes Pawsome Pictures Of Cats And Dogs Alongside Their Human Lookalikes

The style, the mood, the energy - our pets share more similarities with us than we thought, and that's also the reason why they can blend into our life so perfectly. To prove that pets and humans, in fact, share a lot of things in common, London-based photographer Gerrard Gethings has come up with a brilliant idea of putting cats and dogs next to their human lookalikes. And even though his portraits look a little bit weird, they are undoubtedly enchanting!
Gethings first started in 2018 with a project called "Do You Look Like Your Dog?", in which he took fabulous photos of dogs and their human doppelgängers. They later turned into a cool memory game and everybody loved it!
“The plan was to shoot the dogs, find the humans, style them, then have them behave or pose in a similar way," Gethings told in an interview with The Guardian. "This process would be repeated until we had all the shots. At the same time I would always have one eye on people I passed in the street. Many of the subjects I stopped in the park or on the bus, and had to find a tactful way of saying you look exactly like a poodle, can I take your photograph?"

After the success of the series, Gethings continued two years later with the cat version of the project - which was titled "Do You Look Like Your Cat?". And according to what he shared with Bored Panda, Gethings admitted that working with cats was much harder than dogs. However, the result was definitely worth it.
"I had previously made a series of work based on people who look like dogs. It was received really well and I needed another project that I thought would be equally, if not even more engaging. Cats seemed the most accessible choice, but they are infinitely more difficult to photograph than dogs,” he said.
