12 Surprising “Harry Potter” Book Details Omitted From The Films
It's been over 20 years since the first Harry Potter book hit the shelves, and the series still has a cult fan following. Although the story of the Harry Potter boy has long ended, it has certainly never been forgotten by those who have been and are loving it. Both novels and movies have overwhelming followings but some sequences are only available in the books!
In fact, when "Harry Potter" was adapted, some of the most significant details and plotlines were sacrificed. That's because of the book's lengthy content or the producer's inability to predict what the next novels will be about. One of the missing facts is that Harry can easily be substituted as the chosen one and this will perhaps expand our imagination even further.
So, in this post, we will provide some missing facts from the movies that we think might make you think twice once you learn about them. And I'm sure the details below will make you feel regretful and wonder why it was cut. At the same time, you also feel very happy to be back in Harry's magical world again. Harry and Hermione danced in the tent in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. However, they never did this in the book.#2 It's possible that Neville Longbottom was the prophecy child

Professor Trelawney's prophecy about the Chosen One says: “Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies” — although this also applies to Neville Longbottom, Harry Potter was assigned the sole focus.#3 Voldemort couldn't love because of his parents

Lord Voldemort’s most famous trait was his inability to love. This also explains his evil ways - the cause of his downfall. He was born while his mother and father were both under the influence of a love potion. Additionally, according to Snape, a child born from such a potion will never be able to experience love.#4 Voldemort’s eyes color

In the movie, Lord Voldemort has white eyes. However, in the books, his eyes are red.#5 In "The Goblet of Fire", the cash prize was excluded from the tournament

Harry won a cash prize for winning the Triwizard Tournament. But because there is no specific money rule in the film, the prize is not mentioned. This detail is important because, in the book, he gave Fred and George his 1000 galleon winnings, which helped them to open Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes shop.#6 In "The Order of the Phoenix", a piece of Voldemort's soul was revealed

The significant locket, known as the Horcrux, had a brief appearance in the fifth book, although at the time it was only a piece of jewelry. It is later revealed to be a bit of Voldemort's soul. Although Hermione, Ron, and Harry came into contact with other strange and hazardous items while cleaning the Black family home, the locket didn't seem to be that significant. They tried to open the locket to check if there was anything inside but failed, then they threw it in the trash. However, only 2 novels later, the 3 heroes have to track down the locket after learning that it contained a piece of Voldemort's soul. The locket was totally eliminated from the fifth film, not foreseeing its future importance as the next 2 novels were yet to be written.#7 "The Order of the Phoenix" didn't include a 2-way mirror since the producers didn't realize how important it would be

In "The Order of the Phoenix", Sirius gave Harry half of the magic mirror so they could talk, but then Harry put it away and vowed never to use it. However, he was unaware of the importance of the future mirror. As a result, the mirror wasn't included at all in the movie because it didn't seem particularly significant at the time. The filmmakers did not anticipate that the mirror would play such an important role in the final novel. Many viewers were confused when the mirror finally appeared in the final movie because its origin was not explained, especially those who have not read the book.#8 Quidditch seasons were left out of "Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix"

The fifth film removed the Quidditch season. However, in the novel, it played a significant role since Ron Weasley replaced Olive Wood as the team's keeper. Ron had a great chance to develop since he led his team to success. Thus, this was the moment when he could emerge from Harry's shadow. Although Ron tried out for the part in the sixth film, it was a bit late for his character to develop.#9 Peeves was left out of the movies

There are many ghosts at Hogwarts School; each schoolhouse even has its own. But Peeves, the most evil of them all, is the only character left out of the series. Actually, he is a poltergeist rather than a ghost. He spends his time causing trouble, making fun of the pupils, and splattering visitors with mud. Even while facing evil, he is useful. He was, however, very briefly depicted in the film, and the writer and director utterly ignored him.#10 Professor Trelawney actually dropped crystal balls on the Death Eaters

Professor Trelawney also took part in the Battle of Hogwarts. However, the scene where she throws crystal balls at her enemies' heads was removed in the final product. As Fenrir Greyback assaulted Lavender Brown, she really knocked him out. Although she was unsuccessful in saving Lavender, she continued to throw crystal balls with a "tennis-like serve" at the Death Eaters' heads.#11 Harry didn't break the old wand

The Elder wand was a magnet for trouble. Its purpose was to make its owner unbeatable. So, Harry knew that whoever had it (that people knew about it), was a target. He was tired of fighting and also he was the only one who could destroy it, so he broke the wand into 2 pieces in the movie. However, in the book, Harry doesn’t break the wand. Instead, he returns it to Dumbledore’s tomb after using it to fix his own wand.#12 The first broom Harry Potter used wasn't a Nimbus 2000
Source: Warner Bros. Pictures
An important detail that readers and viewers may have overlooked is that the Nimbus 2000 is not Harry's first broom. In a letter his mother, Lily, wrote, she told Sirius that Harry liked the toy broom his uncle sent him. She then said that Harry has been flying all around the garden and that James thinks he will be an excellent Quidditch player.Share this article
