Mariah Carey returns to Billboard this week. It has become a tradition that Mimi would make a great comeback at the end of every year. Reportedly, one of her timeless Christmas hits has entered several music charts worldwide.
Let’s find out more in this post.
This week, the holiday hit song is officially back to one of the Billboard main charts, the Billboard Hot 100. The song re-enters the Hot 100 at No. 25 with 14 million streams, 1,900 digital copies sold and 11.5 million radio airplay audience impressions from November 11 to 17. Last year, the song also ranked at No. 36 on November 27, 2021.
Previously, this song was chosen as the No. 1 song in the list of the Greatest of All Time Holiday 100 Songs by Billboard. Mariah Carey released the song together with her first festive album, Merry Christmas. It first entered the Hot 100’s top 10 in 2017. The modern carol also secured its No. 1 place for 8 times. This year, it is also expected to top the chart once (or more than once) again.
Reportedly, Carey and her team attempted to register the term “Queen of Christmas” as a trademark for herself. It caused many controversies and some were from other holiday music singers like Darlene Love and Elizabeth Chan. Chan is significant and even released a Christmas album titled “Queen of Christmas”. She never tried to “reclaim” that title.
Even fans and the public love Carey and her songs, seemingly they did not even side with her this time. However, eventually, she did not succeed.
