Blake Lively provided The Cut with an explanation of the sources of inspiration for her 2022 Met Gala ensemble, saying: 'Instead of looking to fashion to influence the dress, I looked to New York City architecture and classic buildings.'

Her dress' train was made to resemble the Grand Central Station constellation; its bodice was modeled after the Empire State Building; and its color-changing skirt was modeled after the Statue of Liberty. Her Lorraine Schwartz crown, which was covered in diamonds, was also a tribute to the city; it featured 25 stones, representing the city's 25 windows, and had seven layers to represent the Statue of Liberty's seven rays.

The initials of the couple's children, Hazel, Phinnaeus, and Henry, the word "love," and a sprinkling of hearts make form the phrase "JR + DM," which is a tribute to Julia's husband Daniel Moder. Stewart tells Vogue of the custom commission, which she accessorized with a cropped wool silk tuxedo jacket, "We were inspired by Sarah's crystal graffiti in the show."

Emilia Clarke donned a dress bearing the message, "Leave your door open for me. I might sleepwalk into your arms." to the opening of the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones.  Fans were unsure of the story's ending at the time, so Clarke uploaded a picture of this dress on social media with a warning that it revealed the Mother of Dragons' ultimate destiny.

The inscription, however, was only an invention of a Valentino designer. It has nothing to do with the world created by George Martin. The clothing, however, had a color that resembled that of the Night King and his Army of the Dead. She died in the end, so perhaps this was the spoiler.
