They brought their characters to life and became synonymous with their iconic roles. Trying to replace them with other actors, no matter how good they are, will destroy the whole movie for many audiences.

1. Robert Downey Jr. - Iron Man, The Avengers

Robert Downey Jr. played Tony Stark so well that it felt like the character was written for him. He is probably the only one that can portray the arrogance and altruism of the character without making him look like an a-hole. Many regard the first Iron Man film in 2008 as one of the MCU movies, and they are not wrong. It’s this movie that kicked off the entire MCU.
President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige shared his feeling about the decision to cast RDJ as Iron Man, saying "it was both the biggest risk and the most important thing in the founding of the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

2. Tom Hiddleston - Loki, MCU

Loki might be a villain, but he is a villain that is loved by many fans. He is cunning, sassy, sarcastic, and charming. We can all agree that there is nobody more perfect to play the role of the mischievous god than Tom Hiddleston. His portrayal of Loki is insanely accurate to the comic version, which is really appreciated. Plus, his chemistry with Chris Hemsworth in every Thor movie is just the best.

3. Chadwick Boseman - T'Challa, Black Panther

The decision to cast Chadwick as T'Challa was a perfect choice. He was a great role model and thanks to his amazing performance, he inspired the whole young generation. Marvel was making the right call when they decided to not recast Black Panther. Nobody would have been able to replace Chadwick.

4. Johnny Depp - Captain Jack Sparrow, Pirates of the Caribbean

Johnny Depp played Captain Jack Sparrow so well that it took “bring your character to life to the next level. Sometimes it feels like Jack Sparrow is a real person who spends his time playing a character named Johnny Depp. The way he talked, the way he walked, and just about everything else was perfect.

5. Ian McKellen - Gandalf, The Lord of the Rings movies

No one could have played the 7,000-year-old wizard as perfect as Sir Ian McKellen. His gravitas and theatrical style turned the character into a legend. There was no doubt that Sir Ian's amazing performance played a large role in the success of The Lord of the Rings movies. Plus, every line he spoke in the movie was so quotable.

6. Meryl Streep - Miranda Priestly, The Devil Wears Prada

Without Meryl Streep, Miranda Priestly won’t be as iconic as she is now. Her calm yet cold demeanor was absolutely terrifying and intriguing at the same time. She can make everybody around her quake in their boots without raising her voice. Meryl really gave the character depth and a lot more personality.

7. Heath Ledger - Joker, The Dark Knight

Many people have played the Joker, but nobody has played him as well as Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. His legendary performance has totally reinvented the Joker and even defined what a great villain should be like. His Oscar for this role was truly well-earned. To this day many people still regard his Joker as a masterpiece of acting.

8. Hugh Jackman - Wolverine, the X-Men films

No one can replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. NO ONE! He played the characters so well that it’s hard to imagine anybody else in his shoes. His portrayal of the X-Men hero was so unique and heartfelt that everybody just can’t help falling for him.

9. Ryan Reynolds - Deadpool

Deadpool must be written for Ryan Reynolds, cause the guy completely nailed his role. Deadpool is funny and sarcastic, and so does Ryan Reynolds’s sense of humor. Nobody could have delivered the dirty jokes in the Movies.better than him. He did his job so well that some of us could hear his voice narrating every time we read a Deadpool comic.

10. Jennifer Lawrence - Katniss Everdeen, The Hunger Games

And last but not least, we doubt that The Hunger Games franchise would be as good without Jennifer Lawrence. Her performance as Katniss Everdeen was simply amazing. Thanks to her we can see an awesome Katniss Everdeen.
