The enchanting world of Harry Potter has captured the hearts of millions, marking a triumphant chapter in cinematic history. The story that resonates universally transforms us into a realm where magic thrives and friendships flourish. 

It’s no wonder that plenty of people rewatch this movie every year but still overlook some details woven into the series’ costumes. These details are hints to showcase the personality of each character and have given a magical touch to the world that has fascinated young and old.

#1. Harry Potter’s contact lenses

In the book, Harry Potter is described as having green eyes like his mother’s so Daniel Radcliffe was demanded to wear green contact lenses due to his actual blue eyes. However, the idea didn’t go to plan because that could hurt his eyes.

#2. Goodbye to uniforms

Some eagle-eyed viewers found many alternations in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Costume designer Jany Temime made a decision, letting the main trio wear casual clothes instead of donning classic Hogwarts school uniforms. It was because at that time Harry, Ron, and Hermione were teenagers.

Jany Temime admitted that she really liked choosing outfits for Bellatrix Lestrange. But it was challenging because the character had a shabby look. Temime was asked to create a line of clothing inspired by the dark character. Fortunately, she succeeded when many fans were captivated by Bellatrix’s look.

Temime spared no expense in designing Hogwarts uniforms with high quality. Only ties made of the finest silk made the uniforms the most expensive of the sage.

Despite being one of the most hated characters in the series, Dolores Umbridge doesn’t appear in dark colors or shabby clothes. Adorable shades of pink were her choices. Temime revealed that the scarf shaped like a cat was one of the most contrasting with Umbridge's unpleasant personality.

Temime revealed that while most actors agreed with their clothes, Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley often had opinions. In fact, that was good for the movie. The actress is the daughter of 2 well-known jewelers, so she has their fashion sense.

In the sixth installment, The Dark Lord’s soul had been divided into 7 parts, called Horcruxes. Many might not notice that his robe wore out every time a Horcrux was ruined. His clothes became darker and dusty because, in the end, they would turn to dust.

Evanna Lynch portrayed Luna Lovegood, an eccentric girl from the Ravenclaw house. The actress had to work with Temime to create clothes for the character and made sure that they could show her strange personality. She helped design jewelry for Luna Lovegood.

Remember the scene where Hermione appeared in a pink dress at the Christmas ball? The dress was depicted as a “doll” that Temime designed to show how delicate Hermione could be underneath her “rough” exterior.

#10. The Battle of Hogwarts required many changes of clothing

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, we see the battle between the whole school and Lord Voldemort's followers. Due to the chaotic scene, designers and dressmakers tried their best to show the tear of the clothes. 10 or 15 sets of clothes were torn a day in 4 months during the filming of the scene.
