A momma bear and her cubs were discovered in one of the storm drainages on a residential street. She was crying throughout the night, heard by neighbors who called for help. The police officer, rescuers, and experts arrived quickly and discussed the best way to help this bear mom and her cubs.

According to The Simsbury Camera Club, the mama bear had drank water at a nearby stream and walked into the storm drain system. She could not find the exit and was desperate after finding out her cubs were following her. Hence, they got more petrified as time passed. When officers approached them, the mom was highly anxious and cautious, which toughened the rescue.

The officers first decided to put down two grates over the two storm drains, but the bears traveled further down the pipe to another one. Therefore, they took the grate off and put in a board and a ladder hoping she'd try to make her way out with the cubs.

Unfortunately, when she tested them out, they didn't work. Then, it seemed like she got spooked and went back to the first place they found her, even though the men got a good-sized log to lower in for her instead. Afterward, the men moved the board, ladder, and log into the storm drain nearest her.

A brave DEEP female biologist climbed down the ladder to check on the momma and cubs cowering down there while a male biologist was using a very convincing bear cub "call" to get the momma to want to come out to see what "cub" needed help. Amazingly, it worked. The momma's head popped up. Then, she climbed out, looked around, and went back to encourage the cubs.
