Allí estaba, dos grandes arácnidos colgando uno encima del otro haciendo que el corazón de Mcleay latiera con fuerza. No pudo entender la situación durante unos minutos. “No tenía idea de lo que estaba pasando al principio”, compartió Mcleay.

He guessed the two spiders had a fight and the top one won since the other didn’t move. “I thought the top one was alive and the bottom one was dead, as it was limp,” Mcleay said. “Then the bottom one started moving, which freaked me out, but there was no movement from the top one.”

It turned out that Mcleay was totally wrong. Two creatures he saw, in fact, was only one huntsman spider that was getting rid of her exoskeleton to start new growth. “Apparently, it’s rare to witness such a thing,” Mcleay said.

The spider got down from her shell with a thin line of silk after finishing the possess. In the meantime, Mcleay took a bucket and gentle relocated the spider to a safe place. He also removed the shell and left it in his garden.
After this alarming incident, Mcleay has been kept an eye out for any other spider whenever he gets in his car. “I keep looking around inside the car every day. If I see [a spider] in traffic, I’ll most likely cause an accident,” Mcleay said with a laugh. “But I’ve used the car a few times [since then]. No others seen, luckily.”
