#2. Scream 6 Storyline Updates

Scream 6 picks up right where Scream 2022 ends, with the surviving Carpenter sisters Sam, Tara and twins Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin moving to New York City to escape Woosdboro and its twisted past. However, they are quickly dragged into a meta-slasher-whodunnit scenario when a new Ghostface starts killing people around them. Sam Weaving's character is the first to die. Gale is on a book tour in New York, and Sam befriends Danny. Tara, Mindy, and Chad all meet new people. As they notice a swarm of Ghostfaces on the train, they discover that New York is home to a big Ghostface following. Kirby, a detective, learns about the Ghostface murders and shows them the Ghostface shine. After Tony Revolori's character is brutally murdered and Ghostface stabs Quinn through the door, the entire gang flips out.

Ethan fakes his death, Mindy and Gale are stabbed but survive, Kirby is stabbed after running out of ammo, and Sam and Tara are confronted with two Ghostfaces, Ethan and Detective Bailey. Ethan's motivation is that he is a huge stab enthusiast who wants to become famous so that he may appear in a future stab film. Bailey is Vince's father, who seeks vengeance and holds Sam responsible for his son's death. Ethan and Bailey begin chasing and attacking Sam and Tara, but Danny intervenes and shoots and kills Ethan. Sam's grip on Tara begins to slip, and she grins at Sam before Detective stabs Tara numerous times and kills her. Sam collapses after losing his equilibrium, and Detective is going to murder him.

Kirby returns to the shine and examines a mannequin wearing Jill's blouse, but a third Ghostface arrives and brutally murders her. Sam, who is outside clutching a Ghostface mask, hears the screams and rushes inside, where he finds Kirby's dead body and the third Ghostface. Ghostface asks Sam if he remembers him and Sam declares that he does, but we don't get to see who it is. This is the case when the film comes to the end.
