In 2013, Jenny McCarthy entered Donnie's life when she interviewed him on her radio talk show. McCarthy is a well-known actress, TV host, comedian, author, and emcee. Just over a year after they first met, she and Donnie got married in August 2014.

In 2002, Jenny McCarthy welcomed her only son, Evan, with John Asher. When Evan was 3 years old, he started having seizures and other troubling signs. Also, the boy once went into a brief cardiac arrest. Despite receiving different diagnoses, it was ultimately determined that Evan had autism.
McCarthy once felt that “From that day on, I was not who I was before”. She started her brave fight to ensure Evan has a brighter future. McCarthy devoted numerous hours to consulting physicians and looking up any material that could be helpful. The actress's married life with her partner is therefore increasingly stressful. After that, Asher was angry because of being pushed aside, and the couple eventually divorced.

When he first met McCarthy, Wahlberg had previously been married and divorced. He has two sons, Xavier and Elijah, with his ex-wife Kimberly Fey. At first glance, Wahlberg fell in love with McCarthy, but he didn't pursue the relationship until they reconnected on the "Jenny McCarthy Show" in 2013. This time, they realized that their connection was more than simply a passing romance and they decided to tie the knot a year later.

Wahlberg quickly managed to find a common language with Evan. The proud stepdad was happy to express how he felt about the special bond between them. The actor said that he had been able to connect with Evan in unusual ways. He likes how their blended family with their 3 sons spends time together.
According to McCarthy, the foundation of this wholesome and encouraging connection is unconditional love. She shared how she found the soulmate every single mom with kids dreams of. The actress emphasizes that she has found her "Romeo", who loves her and is ready to fulfill Evan’s special needs.

Evan was excited to help Wahlberg in planning a surprise proposal for McCarthy. The 3 shared one of the most precious moments together when the boy handed the cards with the words “will,” “you,” and “marry” over to his mother at Wahlberg’s request. Later, Evan was given another important task: he had to lead his mother down the aisle.

In 2019, McCarthy told a heartwarming story about a Christmas present she received from her spouse. She felt overjoyed when Wahlberg announced that he would cover Evan’s college tuition.
Thanks to McCarthy's efforts Evan grew up and now autism doesn't have as much of an impact on his life as it did when he was younger. He has a great relationship with his stepdad and lives in a loving atmosphere. On Evan's twentieth birthday in 2022, Wahlberg shared a smiling photo of him and called him "a wonderful stepchild".
