Carl From 'Up' Finally Got A Date Since Ellie's Death In Disney Short Film 'Carl's Date'

This June, 'Carl's Date,' a short film created in response to the 'Up'-based 'Dug Days' series of films, will be released on theater screens. Carl Fredricksen (Ed Asner) is getting ready for his first date since Ellie went away in the short, which will play before "Elemental," the next Pixar film from Peter Sohn, who served as an inspiration for Russell in "Up."

Bob Peterson, a mainstay of Pixar who also co-authored and co-directed "Up," wrote and directed "Carl's Date." According to The Wrap, Peterson claimed that "Carl's Date" was the "bow" on top of the "Up" plot and that it would probably be the last content from the universe during a screening of the short at Pixar (at least for now). This is due in part to the fact that Asner went away only a few months after he recorded the dialogue for "Carl's Date" (he did so in the spring of 2021 and died in the same August), as well as the way the short film closes.

'Carl's Date,' a special episode of 'Dug Days,' was initially scheduled to air on Disney+ in February. Despite having a release month that coincided with Valentine's Day, the short was postponed for unidentified reasons.Carl's Date
A new "Elemental" trailer has also been made available, check out below:

The animated film, set in Element City, imagines a society in which individuals are created from the traditional elements of water, earth, fire, and air. Wade Ripple, a Water-based character, will have a difficult connection with Ember Lumen, a Fire-based character, there, as portrayed by Mamoudou Athie (voiced by Leah Lewis). Elemental, therefore, promises to examine the axiom that opposites attract while addressing the perils of a relationship that might physically injure the two parties involved.

Peter Sohn, who directed 2015's "The Good Dinosaur," is the man behind the camera for "Elemental."
