So a young and ungrateful babysitter could seriously brought you down in r/AmIthe*sshole.
OP hired a 15-year-old babysitter, Anna, recommended by their usual babysitter. OP and her husband went to a concert, expecting to be back by 10 PM. Due to a traffic jam, they called Anna around 9:45 PM, informing her they'd be about 10 minutes late.
Anna got mad, demanding an extra hour's pay ($14.50) for the delay. They offered compensation for the actual extra time, about $2.40, but Anna left, and they found out she took a bag of chips and broke an ornament. They invited her to discuss and pay the next day, but Anna refused, so they didn't pay her.
OP wonders if they are the A-hole for not paying Anna.
Here we go
Ok so we meet Anna, the new sitter
This looks pretty normal night with the sitter
OP called in advanced due to unexpected situation
I guess this girl never had any problems in her life
Hmmm, that's a little too little but a whole hour seems too much
No, you're not. She could have put your child in some danger
Well the camera confirms that you don't even need to pay her a dime
Thank god that it was the last time Anna worked for OP
Carelessness runs in the family
She is the AH, not you OP
You should be grateful she did that
True babysitter would do this
Sad that it's like that
Yep
I don't think OP is the AH
So what do you guys think? I just felt bad that OP had to deal with Anna. Drop your comments below. Was OP the AH for treating a 15 year old girl like an adult?
