Peggy's life has not been easy. The Chinese crested pug hybrid was the last of her unintentional litter to be adopted. Potential families were put off by her looks because, unlike other puppies, she had a floppy tongue and very little fur. Holly Middleton from Leven, East Yorkshire, acquired Peggy when she was six months old because of her 'quirky' looks.Source: © ch*g_life_x / Instagram
Holly, 36, acknowledged to the BBC that her dog is like 'Marmite,' with tufts of hair on her ears and head and a totally hairless body, as well as a lengthy tongue protruding out of her mouth.Holly first encountered Peggy in 2018 and fell in love with her, adding, "We adored her the moment we lay eyes on her... I simply felt bad for her, sitting there with no hair and her tongue hanging out... I just had the feeling that no one wanted her."
Fortunately, Peggy is healthy and can eat and drink normally with her tongue.

Holly put Peggy in the competition hosted by the photography printing business Parrot Print to decide who is the country's most unfortunate-looking up. Peggy was one of seven pups aiming to take home the title, as well as the winning prize of a grooming treatment and picture. She won the UK's search for the ugliest dog but she has shown everybody around her that beauty is more than one's looks.Source: © ch*g_life_x / Instagram
While Peggy is not much of a looker, Holly revealed that her unusual appearance doesn't stop her from living life to the fullest. The dog lover is unconcerned by her pet's unique traits, admitting that she sometimes forgets Peggy isn't your ordinary canine.
"It has always been like that but it doesn't stop her from doing anything, she can eat she can drink, it does go in her mouth, it just doesn't stay there," she said.
