Dante, the detective featured in tonight's program, dealt with a hostage scenario. His daughter needed immediate surgery, so the mother of one of the patients held the entire floor hostage. If they don't operate on the unfortunate kid, he or she won't make it. The girl's name is Emily, and she's quite the tiny tot. Her mom's name is Lauren Stone. Lauren has made every effort possible to get Emily the surgery she needs. The cost was prohibitive for Lauren, and insurance companies were unwilling to take the risk.
There was just one parent in the house. She had to juggle many jobs to pay for her treatment. No one was contributing to her GoFundMe. The hospital could afford to provide payment plans to those on fixed incomes. They were meant to seek the public's best interests, but their greed got in. No payment, no operation. That was their request. They were responsible for Lauren's actions. Lauren had no intention of holding anyone hostage when she entered the premises.
She had just learned that her kid would not be able to have surgery when she spotted a security officer carrying a revolver and snatched it from his hands. Lauren had no strategy in place and no way to get away. She had reached an all-time low and was acting on that low point. At least Dante felt sorry for her and her kid. He has experience as a father. Nothing would stop him from providing for his children, and he would never pass judgment on another parent who did the same.

To Lauren, Dante wanted to provide an argument. He had hoped to calm her fears, so he was taken aback when the TAC squad came out swinging. Commander Gregory has been given the directive to breach the structure immediately. The directive originated from the Governor's office. They pushed TAC to disregard protocol and storm the building without attempting to negotiate. Dante couldn't place his finger on the reason. So he made a move at Robyn McCall.
He even broached the topic of her with Lauren and begged for her assistance. Help was on the way, he assured her. Regardless matter what happened last week, Robyn owes him. On the other hand, Robyn was overjoyed by Dante's outreach and would have gladly participated in this circumstance for any reason he requested. And Robyn, in an attempt to fix the problem, pretended to be a therapist. Robyn attempted to accept TAC's assistance as she entered. They wouldn't budge, so Robyn walked around them.
There, she visited the District Attorney's office in Grafton. While Grafton didn't get a clear answer to her question from the District Attorney about the urgency with which they wished to access the facility, she did discover enough to conclude that the Governor was heavily involved. Robyn could spend one hour indoors with Lauren, thanks to Grafton. Robyn was trying to calm Lauren down while the clock ticked away. She arranged for her daughter to meet with Dr. Lauren.

She convinced Lauren to treat people for free when her daughter underwent the necessary surgery. Robyn discovered the reason for their gun-ho stance as time ran out and the TAC squad closed in. One of the captives was the son of a senator, and she found out. One of the hostages got gun crazy, and just as Robyn was about to escort him out the door to buy more time for the others, the hostage took off with a pistol. The impolite woman who had been there from the beginning pulled a revolver from her purse.
To shoot Lauren, she attempted. The only thing she did was shoot the surgeon. The doctor had climbed down from the operating table. Emily was scheduled to undergo the procedure. Suddenly the one man at the hospital who could do this extremely rare operation is shot in the shoulder. Thankfully, Dr. Keller has a good chance of survival. This time, though, he was unable to perform the necessary procedure. It was becoming late, and they still hadn't found a replacement surgeon.
Hearing the gunfire, TAC decided to go in. As Dante tried to protest against it, they hauled him away, and that's when Harry stepped in. Harry located a different surgeon with experience in this area. In Iraq, he was the one who operated. The United States was the only country that had him return to school to acquire a job he had previously qualified for in his native country. Thus, he was now working as a cab driver. Their surgeon was located in Harry.

Dante vowed to go to the press if he couldn't see him at the hospital once he was transported there. Because of this, the commander became quite nervous. They finally entered the hospital, thanks to Commander Greene's approval. The new surgeon immediately began working on Emily. Robyn took advantage of the situation to have Lauren give over the pistol. Lauren surrendered to authorities. We won't see her for a while because she has to go. Because of what she did, she now faces prison time.
But Grafton was considering her options for reducing the severity of the punishment. Nevertheless, Emily is doing OK after surgery and will be reunited with her mother. Aunt Vi, meantime, learned that the proprietor of her go-to eatery had passed away. Aunt Vi assisted the woman's children in recreating their mother's recipes to sustain the family business after the chef's untimely passing.
Also, Aunt Vi had taken advantage of the opportunity to instruct her niece Delilah in gumbo preparation. Delilah was thrilled that her father had sought exclusive custody of her after she developed a special bond with him via their shared Louisiana heritage.
