On August 22, 2023, RASKC's staff and volunteers encountered Tugboat when he was rescued from the streets of northwestern Washington, injured but fortunately saved in the nick of time. After receiving the necessary medical care and antibiotics, he was ready for adoption.
“Our veterinary team patched him up, gave him antibiotics and [he was] ready for adoption,” Tim Anderson, CAWA, RASKC’s animal control captain and assistant manager, told The Dodo, an animal channel.
During his recovery, Tugboat is a confident and curious cat with a little bit of irritability. Though he allowed his caregivers to shower him with affection, this little guy had specific preferences. He enjoys having the side of his face scratched but not his tail touched.
“He likes the side of [his] face scratched, but [he’s] not a fan of his tail being touched,” said Anderson.
“He began meowing almost immediately,” Anderson said. “Once he was settled in his kennel, he meowed ‘hello’ to all who passed by.”
According to Tim Anderson’s explanation, Tugboat's habits were a reflection of his personality. He adored the staff and volunteers but didn't pay much attention to the other cats. “He loves the staff and volunteers but could care less about other cats.” shared Tim.
Now, Tugboat continues to stay at RASKC in the hopes that a loving family will adopt him soon. While his adoption will undoubtedly bring some quietness to the shelter, as no one else speaks as much or as clearly as he does, his talkative energy will surely stay forever in the minds of the shelter’s staff. Anderson believes that Tugboat's adoption will also bring good fortune to his fellow shelter animals, who are equally deserving of forever homes.
