Red, a strong and stunning color, symbolizes power and passion. It has a wide range of shades, from a reddish color to scarlet and crimson. Each individual may prefer different hues, but the most classy and popular one is probably scarlet. It creates a vibe of enthusiasm, courage, heat, and joy. This shade of red is used a lot in cosmetic products and home decor staples, and some people even like to name their daughter “Scarlet”. I guess most people would agree that objects in this color are eye-catching and beautiful. However, what do you think about a scarlet animal?
It’s not a joke because animals covered by a red coat do exist in the wild. I’m not talking about those with a small part of this color on their bodies, but the species with a full scarlet look. Can you come up with any names?

Here is a bird called “Scarlet Finch”, a name inspired by its red suit! It is also known as Rose Finth, characterized by a feathery red coat, small bill, and long tail. However, female and young birds have greenish-yellow features, creamy rump and pink bill. Its scientific name is Carpodacus sipahi, with sipahi in the Hindustani language meaning a soldier.Source: krishnaspandya
These birds are native to the Himalayas from Uttarakhand India, eastwards, across to Nepal, further east to north-east India, and Southeast Asia as far as Thailand. They often appear in and around temperate forests. The Scarlet flinch is herbivorous, so they feed on seeds, grain, plants, and fruits.Source: ashutosh.wildlife
In the breeding season, the birds use scrub, plants, and rocks to set up a basket-shaped nest. The female often lays from 2 to 6 eggs in light blue color, which hatch after two weeks. The newborn babies will stay in the nest for the first 2 or 3 weeks and reach sexual maturity 9 to 12 months after hatching.Source: rs_apte
Luckily, the Scarlet flinch is in the group of species with the least concern on the IUCN Red List.Source: Dibyendu Ash
