Rescuers Found Abandoned Puppy Born With Six Legs In Parking Lot

Have you ever come across a dog with six legs? Well, let me introduce you to Ariel, a tiny pup who was discovered all alone in a parking lot by an animal rescue team. She strangely has six legs, and this remarkable feature left everyone astonished. It's a mystery why this extraordinary pup ended up in the parking lot, however, it's clear she needs assistance. Fortunately, the compassionate rescue team that discovered her couldn't simply walk away from this little one. Their hearts were touched, and they were determined to help Ariel in any way they could.

Greenacres Rescue shelter rescued a puppy born with six legs.

The story began in the United Kingdom, when a female spaniel puppy, born with six legs, was discovered in the parking lot of a B&M home improvement and garden store in Pembroke Dock.

Along with her strange additional legs, she seemed to have other anomalies. The rescue team was worried about her health condition, so they later handed over the little pup to a local veterinary practice on September 27.

After that, Greenacres Rescue made an urgent appeal for the owner or anyone with information about the puppy to step forward. They also shared their plan to start a thorough diagnosis and treatment with their team of veterinarians, hoping the puppy could lead a normal life if her tests yielded favorable results.

Luckily, the puppy was internally healthy, with all her organs functioning as they should.

In a subsequent update on Facebook not long after that, Greenacres reported that internally, the puppy was healthy, with all her organs functioning as they should. The shelter expressed their surprise at her unique condition, stating they had never seen such a case before. As a tribute to her extra legs, which somewhat resembled a tail, they named the puppy Ariel after The Little Mermaid character.

However, there was some issue with Ariel’s extra legs.

Greenacres Rescue shared the veterinarian's assessment of Ariel, explaining that she had two extra back legs and the beginnings of an additional vulva. Her pelvis had not developed properly due to the presence of the extra hip joint.

The shelter also announced that the veterinarians would reevaluate Ariel in a month with the intention of removing the extra limbs and assessing the function of her remaining leg. There was a possibility she might lose one of her own legs due to the structure of the additional limbs and pelvis, but only time would tell.

Despite the medical challenges ahead, Ariel has a happy puppyhood ahead.

Greenacres emphasized that their primary focus was to help Ariel recover and ensure she enjoyed a happy puppyhood. They noted that her extra limbs did not hinder her mobility, although they were likely to cause damage over time.

For now, Ariel had already adapted wonderfully to her foster home, and the shelter was making preparations to start her vaccinations.
