Rescued Lion Won't Go To Sleep Without His Favorite Blankets Stayed With Him Since He Was A Baby

Carolyn Mullet

Lions are big, fast, and strong predators that are titled the lords of savannas. Unfortunately, their quantity is decreasing due to overhunting and lack of food and habitats. An African lion cub was reported to In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center by the Global Federation of animals Sanctuaries. Vicky Keahey, the founder of the Texas organization, went to pick him up from the people surrendering him. However, she never knew the cub would grow up to be a blanket-holic.

Lambert, the 3-month-old lion baby, was purchased in America in 2014 after two children watched the Disney movie The Lion King and wanted one as their pet. After a while, the family decided to give him away. Since the cub was born in captivity and made to be as tame as a lion could be, he could never be released into the wild. Hence, the rescue team offered him a forever home in the fostering garden.

Changing home, Lambert was curious and fascinated but soon later anxious and worried. Therefore, Keahey gave him a blanket, and he curled up on that and fell asleep instantly. Ever since then, he was always given a blanket before bedtime.

It has been nearly nine years. Lambert is now a mature lion. However, his obsession with blankets remains. Though he can take a nap anywhere he likes, he always needs a blanket when it's nighttime. Now, he's all grown up, so they give him two or three fresh blankets each night. Thus, he can be the most comfortable lion in his dream.
