Priyanka Chopra's journey from winning the title of Miss World in 2000 to becoming one of the most celebrated and beautiful stars in the Entertainment industry today is nothing short of inspiring. Priyanka Chopra had a tough time, suffering from a deep depression when accepting to experience plastic surgery. It not only caused her life but her career to almost be destroyed.
#1. She changed her face.
In an interview, the actress shared how depressed she was after undergoing the removal of a polyp in her nasal cavity in the early 2000s. It failed and it took her a long time to overcome that. She said, “This thing happens, and my face looks completely different.”
Initially, she worried about the surgery and how it affected her face. However, her deceased father, a doctor, convinced her to experience it.
#2. The alternation affected her career.
Chopra shared that she faced job termination from film projects and was afraid of surgical procedures went wrong that would end her career ahead of time.
The actress was grateful for Bollywood director Anil Sharma, who helped her regain self-confidence in her acting career. She explained that she got a supporting role though before that she was considered to play the lead character. Fortunately, the director was very kind.
She said that her Unfinished, published in Feb 2021, revealed the failed surgery’s effects. For it, she was labeled as “Plastic Chopra.”
#3. The surgery was supposed to be risk-free.
In fact, there was a benign growth in her nasal cavity and it required surgical intervention for removal.
In her book, she wrote, “Fortunately, a polypectomy sounded like a pretty routine procedure. Unfortunately, it wasn’t.” However, the surgery was a bad accident when the surgeon shaved the bridge of her nose and the bridge collapsed.
At that time, she was noticed as one of the most famous stars in India for her good look. The surgery left her feeling “horrified” because she almost recognized herself, “My original nose was gone. My face looked completely different.” Thankfully, she turned challenges into advantages. She shared, “My difference is my strength. If I looked like other ’classically beautiful’ girls, then I wouldn’t stand out, and more important, I wouldn’t be me.”
#4. Today, she’s proud of the way she looks.
She explained that after having several “corrective surgeries”, she has finally gotten used to seeing this face. She said, “Now when I look in the mirror, I am no longer surprised; I’ve made peace with this slightly different me’’
