Premier League 2022/2023: Arsenal's Player Power Rankings

Mikel Arteta came under fierce criticism when Arsenal have been struggling to find the 4th place in Premiere League in recent years. And this season, everything seems to go smoothly as Arsenal had 5 first-game wins. Actually, they could have continued the winning streak if they managed to share one point with Manchester United last September 4.
Coach Arteta will aim at a more ambitious target this season as he reportedly asked the Arsenal board to sign Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio in the January transfer window. Because scoring machine Gabriel Jesus's injury is unclear to meet the demand of Arteta for the rest of the Premiere League race.
Now looking at the Gunners' squad which is riding high at the top of the Premier League thanks to some fine summer signings but not everyone is excelling... Is there anyone who could still do a little bit more or someone should be replaced? Let's check them out by rating each and every member of Arteta's table-topping squad.

#23 Emile Smith Rowe - 4/10

The 22-year-old has not played since but hopes to be back in action around the turn of the year. If he manages to back to his best, he can have a major part to play over the rest of the 2022/23 campaign.

#22 Cedric Soares - 5/10

He has made one start, in the Carabao Cup, where the Gunners were defeated by Brighton, and two substitute appearances in the Premier League.

#21 Marquinhos - 5/10

The 19-year-old has looked a little bit out of his depth as e has been called upon and a loan in January seems like a good choice. He will then be able to go out and have the regular game time he needs at his age to make sure he keeps progressing.

#20 Mohamed Elneny - 5/10

It's been an injury-plagued season for Elneny as he has made just 5 appearances. The 30-year-old Egyptian will certainly return in time after Christmas thanks to the World Cup break.

#19 Sambi Lokonga - 5/10

The young Belgian midfielder doesn't have opportunities to impress this season. He's made 13 appearances in all competitions and started 9 times.

#18 Fabio Vieira - 6/10

Like Marquinhos, Vieira had an amazing start to his debut season in England. He gave some impressive performance in his first few appearances and capped his full Premier League debut with a spectacular goal in the win at Brentford.
But his displays have dipped as the season has gone on, raising questions being asked about the Portuguese playmaker’s ability to adapt to life at Arsenal.

#17 Rob Holding - 6/10

Holding is known for his place in this Arsenal squad and he still has a key role to play in Arterta's rotation. Yet, he may not be at the same level as Gabriel Mgalheess or William Sakiba, but Arteta acknowledges he can count on him to come in and make a surprise.

#16 Matt Turner - 6/10

Turner made some good stops during his Europa League performances and he will have been dissatisfied to pick up the injury which saw him miss a final couple of group matches.
He has shown enough, but, to dispel some of the negative opinions that were forming around him earlier in the year.

#15 Reiss Nelson - 6/10

When Bukayo Saka met an injury against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, Arteta turned to Nelson to replace him. And he brilliantly scored twice while also setting up another goal in a 5-0 success.
Those were Nelson’s first Premier League goals in 2 years, and he tracked them up with another decent showing against Brighton in the Carabao Cup.

#14 Eddie Nketiah - 6/10

Nketiah’s goal against Brighton in the Carabao Cup was his first in 8 appearances. It was an incredible finish and one the young striker required after a frustrating few weeks.
He hadn’t been supported by being asked to play out wide in some matches, but his displays were still not at his best.

#13 Kieran Tierney - 7/10

It’s been a tough season for Tierney, who first saw Oleksandr Zinchenko come in and replace him and then saw Takehiro Tomiyasu preferred to him at left-back when the Ukrainian had troubles with injury.

#12 Takehiro Tomiyasu - 7/10

The Japan international has given some amazing performances this season, especially as a left-back. There was so much surprise when Arteta called up Tomiyasu - a natural right back - on the left-hand side of the defense against Liverpool. But it somehow went smoothly.

#11 Oleksandr Zinchenko - 7/10

Zinchenko has proven himself as a good addition for the Gunners, though injury has held him back a little bit. But he still made the greatest impact he could have.

Arsenal’s No.1 has had an outstanding couple of months after a barely under-par start to the season.

Saka is flying high at both club and the national team of England. He has earned 4 goals and 6 assists in 14 Premier League appearances.

#8 Gabriel Magalhaes - 8/10

There have been a few mistakes, but Gabriel has been primarily excellent for Arsenal this season.

#7 Martin Odegaard - 8/10

Odegaard has been the top scorer so far this season with 6 goals. He has not always been exceptional, but he has still played very well and he is starting to make the huge impact we all knew he could in the final third.

#6 Gabriel Martinelli - 8/10

The Brazil winger has been really impressive so far this season. He has scored 5 Premier League goals since the start of the season and two assists.

#5 Ben White - 8/10

Ben White is undoubtedly a gifted footballer and deserves his cost in the transfer market. He has adjusted so easily to play at right-back this season, contributing to the flexible Arteta's formation.

#4 Gabriel Jesus - 8/10

Gabriel Jesus should have had more goals this season. Still, he hasn’t scored in 11 appearances in all competitions. But despite all that, Gabriel Jesus keeps moving on to be an absolute revelation for Arsenal since his move from Manchester City.
His injury during the World Cup may decide a lot of things for the Brazilian striker.

#3 Thomas Partey - 8/10

Arsenal’s Ghanaian midfielder has arguably delivered his most consistent run of form since entering the club during the past 2 months. He has been excellent in the middle of the park, bossing matches and even scoring goals.
He has scored twice from outside the box since the start of October, against Spurs and Nottingham Forest, and made a monstrous performance at Stamford Bridge during the 1-0 victory against Chelsea.

#2 William Saliba - 9/10

A generational talent who has taken to the Premier League with ease, Saliba has been outstanding this season and there is a good argument to suggest that he has been the league’s standout center-back.
He has passed every test that has been thrown at him so far and has formed a tough partnership with Gabriel in the heart of Arsenal’s defense.
Saliba has also scored twice, demonstrating that he can be just as handy for the Gunners in the opposition box as well.

#1 Granit Xhaka - 9/10

Many people wondered whether Xhaka would be eased out of the picture at Arsenal this season, but instead, he has made himself absolutely undroppable. His consistency levels have been impeccable and he is obviously reveling in the freedom of the more advanced midfield role that he is now operating in.
Three goals and three assists in 14 league appearances is an excellent return, while he also scored the crucial winner against PSV in the Europa League. Xhaka has been amazing and his story epitomizes everything about this new Arsenal team.
