"No Parent, No Pool": Man Builds A Pool, But He Doesn't Want Neighborhood Kids To Use It Without Their Parents

Leona Martinez

On the subreddit r/AmItheA**hole, one Redditor posted his story and asked, "Would I be the jerk for telling the neighbors down the street "no parent, no pool"?" In the post, the OP shared that he and his wife had put in a pool in their backyard—a cool place for family fun and beating the summer heat—a few months before. And the pool deck was still in progress. In the midst of all this, a surprising visit made us think about setting some rules.

One day, a kid from next door saw OP's family swimming in the pool from the road. He showed up excitedly in his swimming gear with a towel and asked if he could join, but the OP refused. And he is going to tell parents that going forward the rule is "no parent, no pool."
