On tonight's episode, the team invetigates an attempted murder case. The victim is Logan Donahue. He got stabbed in the stomach by a pair of kitchen scissors. His wife, Lt. Rachel Donohue, becomes the number one suspect.
To everyone's surprise, Rachel seems to have no memory of the attack. She is puzzled to see the NCIS in her house. According to Rachel, the last thing she remembers was arriving home on yesterday's night. Rachel barely gets to see her husband since both of them are so busy with their work, although Rachel claims that their love is still going strong.
Rachel also reveals that she is not feeling well lately, so she has been visiting the doctor regularly. Both her test results and recent actions are kind of confusing, which convinces the team that Rachel is just trying to fake a mental health condition to escape from her crime.

However, the team members have to change their mind when they see Rachel freak out with their own eyes. She starts yelling and pacing around uncontrollably until she eventually collapses.
The team immediately brings Rachel to the doctor. It turns out that Rachel's blood contains huge amounts of T4, a thyroid hormone that may be causing her symptoms. It's getting injected into her body via an implant in her arm that Rachel is unaware of. As the team investigates, they find out that an anonymous sponsor offered to help Doctor Harvey Kimball pay off his gambling debts. In exchange, Harvey had to put the implant into Rachel's arm while she was still unconscious.

While Torres searches for the mysterious man seen on the Donohues' doorbell video, Parker and McGee visit a biotech business which is related to Rachel's secret implant.
The CEO is surprised to learn about the situation. After discussing with the CEO, the team discovers that this whole case seems to be a revenge on Logan Donohue. Apparently, while doing his job as a safety workers, Logan caused the FDA project to shut down, making 40 engineers lose their jobs. Logan learns about the situation after he woke up from the surgery. He has a long conversation with Rachel and decides to forgive his wife.

But that's not the end to this case. As the team tries to dig deeper, they find out a shocking truth - Logan actually owns the company that previously paid Harvey to set up the implant in Rachel's body. So the victim is actually not-so-much of a victim.
Rachel immediately confronts Logan. Logan reveals that six months ago, he unintentionally opened a letter for Rachel. The letter notifies Rachel that she'd received a 10 million dollars trust fund from a wealthy cousin. Logan realized that he wouldn't get the chance to touch this money if his wife is not dead. Driving by his greed, Logan started planning a scheme to take control of Rachel's funds.
Well, it's kind of irony how Logan's plan backfired and almost costed him his life. Maybe Logan did deserve that stab from Rachel.

Kasie has had a tough week. She suddenly rushes to complete every single thing that is on her bucket list. Later, when Kasie feels like she couldn't handle her worries alone anymore, she decides to tell it to Palmer. Kasie shares that her aunt has recenltly been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's. She is now waiting for her test result to see if she also has the gene for it as well.
Kasie eventually goes to Vance, who also experienced a major health problem not long ago, to ask for advice. He tells Kasie that nothing in life is certain, therefore she should let herself enjoy every day without regrets. Kasie ponders over that for a moment.
At the end of the episode, Kasie informs Palmer that she no longer wants to know if she contains the Alzheimer's gene or not. Kasie confesses that she doesn't want that information to impact the way she lives. She deletes the email containing the results. She and Palmer settle down for a night of popcorn and video games. It's good to see Kasie's positive mind, but we surely hope that she is actually fine.
