Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio are known for having their sex scene (especially sex in the backseat of cars). The duo has appeared onscreen together twice, in 1997's Titanic and 2008's Revolution Road, and they've had memorably steamy moments in both Movies. But one of them was a really "weird" experience to film, according to Winslet.

In the interview with The Mirror, the actress recalled her enduring friendship with DiCaprio, which started when they first met 25 years ago during the set of Titanic. Winslet described that they sought the opportunity to work together again, a chance that eventually came with the historical drama Revolutionary Road, which was directed by the actress' then-husband, Sam Mendes.

In the movie, the actors portrayed April and Frank Wheeler, a suburban 1950s couple who are trying to keep their marriage afloat. With such a romantic drama like this, it's hard to avoid sex scenes. Still, Winslet explained that she and DiCaprio share a purely platonic friendship in real life that's "a real brother-sister thing,” but having her husband oversee their sex scenes was still extremely awkward. “It was the element of, ‘OK my husband is over there.’ That was a bit weird,” she said.

As his co-star, DiCaprio insisted that she was a "consummate professional" who won a Golden Globe in 2009 for her performance as April in the movie. Before the movie's release, the actor gushed about his relationship with Winslet. "We were actively looking for something to do together. It felt really natural. She’s my homie," he detailed, with The Mirror.

Despite Winslet's discomfort during the sex scenes, DiCaprio acknowledged that their close relationship was an "advantage" when filming the challenging scenes. "We can push the boundaries with each other. We use the fact that we’ve been such good friends through the years to our advantage. There’s definitely a comfort level that we have between us and we challenge each other as actors," he stated.

Winslet and Mendes divorced in 2010; they have a 20-year-old son named Joe. The actress spoke to the outlet about the breakup: "One thing I will say about me and Sam is that it’s fine, it’s really fine. We’re grown-ups at the end of the day, and however hard it’s been for me, it’s been equally hard for him."

Winslet went on: "And we have a child together who we both love and raising him together, jointly and without any conflict, is absolutely key." On February 10, 2023, a remastered version of the epic film will be released in theaters to mark its 25th anniversary. James Cameron follows up his success with "Avatar: The Way of Water" in 2022 by bringing "Titanic" back to the big screen in 2023.
