Jennifer Garner Is Returning As Elektra In Deadpool 3, And Fans Are Going Wild

Following the Hollywood Reporter, the 51-year-old actress will reprise her role as the heroine in Deadpool 3 along with Ryan Reynolds. Known for the role as Elektra Natchios, a notorious bounty hunter and assassin in the 2003 office bomb Daredevil along with her then-future husband Ben Affleck, however, Garner is one of the movie’s few saving graces, and she still impressed the audience enough to eventually earned herself a solo spin-off in 2005. 

While both movies failed at the box office, Jennifer Garner’s performance and charming look still captivated the hearts of the audience. Therefore, a lot of fans are excited to hear the actress is returning as the bounty huntress in the much-anticipated threequel of the Deadpool franchise.

In the comics, Elektra has a tragic and rough childhood, as her mother was fatally shot while pregnant and then passed away after giving birth to her. Raised by her overprotective father Hugo, Elektra learns martial arts from a very young age and quickly becomes proficient at it. In her college years, she met and fell in love with Matt Murdock, who eventually turns into Daredevil. 

However, the young girl was obsessed with the dark voice inside her head, and after her father’s death, she turns into a ruthless assassin and bounty hunter, who would lend her service to any generous bidder. Some of her most powerful enemies include the Hand, Bullseye, and even Daredevil himself.

As a renowned killer, Elektra is a master Ninjutsu and other martial arts combatant, while also possessing inhuman strength, speed, and agility. She even wields ninja-like skills such as shadow-walking, camouflaging and stealth, and can even manipulate her nervous system to control bleeding and resist infections and poisons. Occasionally, she can even hypnotize the opponents using illusion techniques, and connect telepathically with others from long distance.

Elektra also can wield a handful of lethal weapons, such as blades, shuriken, explosives, and a Japanese dagger-type weapon called Sai. Fans are excited to see the assassin in action, as her ruthless and gory fighting style will mix well with Wade Wilson in battle.

Elektra’s unexpected appearance in the MCU makes fans ponder if her comic lover, Daredevil, will also appear in the next Deadpool movie. In the original 2003 title, the two are also a couple, with Matt being played by Garner’s now ex-husband, Ben Affleck, whose role in the DCEU is seemingly coming to an end. Therefore, fans are expecting to see the Batman star return as the Hornhead as well.

Even with Charlie Cox still portraying Daredevil in the MCU, as shown in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the return of Ben Affleck is still likely to happen, as Phases 4 and 5 of the MCU focus on exploring and expanding the Multiverse. Besides, all Deadpool movies so far tend to break the fourth wall quite frequently, and often feature different characters version from other universes, sometimes even from other franchises (looking at you, Green Lantern), so we can expect not only Ben Affleck, but also some other versions of heroes and mutants in Deadpool 3.

Since there is no official confirmation from Marvel just yet, the next Deadpool title’s plot is still shrouded in mystery, many fans believe the return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will lead to the entire X-Men universe being introduced in the threequel. With the ever-expanding Multiverse in the MCU, this theory seems very plausible. 

After all, many mutants have been brought to Deadpool 2, with Colossus, Domino, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Yukio. Besides, we also have already seen a version of Professor X portrayed by Patrick Steward. And with Elektra’s return, we might as well expect either Charlie Cox or Ben Affleck’s version of Matt Murdock to make their appearance.
